| Appraiser Comments: | Hello, this is Anita Bartlett-Picarella from New York. Your request for an appraisal has been referred to me for reply. I have closely examined the information you submitted. My findings are based on this information. According to Rainwater's Guide to American Silver Manufacturers, the New Amsterdam Silver Company isn't really a manufacturer at all...that's just one hallmark of several used by the Knickerbocker Silver Company (Port Jervis, NY). Successor to J.A. Babcock & Co. in 1894 as Knickerbocker Mfg. Co.; became Knickerbocker Silver Company before 1904. Taken over by Crescent Silverware Mfg. Co., Inc. in 1962. Therefore, I expect your bowl dates late 19th century. As it is not in perfect condition, this is a factor in the value. This bowl was most probably part of an extensive tea service set or other type of tableware set. Keep in mind that the values listed below can vary depending upon how and where marketed, locale, and may vary across different collecting disciplines. If you are satisfied with the services I have rendered, I would be most grateful if you would take the time to leave some positive feedback. Kindest regards, Anita Bartlett-Picarella Senior Certified Member Appraisers Association of America Assumptions and Limiting Conditions.
